Following the declaration of a State of Emergency by the National Government, Saitama Prefectural Library (Saitama Prefectural Kumagaya Library, Kuki Library, and Urawa Bunshitsu (Circulation Point)) closures have (presently) been extended until Sunday, May 31st.
However the service desk will be open from Tuesday, May 19th for picking up reserved materials.
The official website and Twitter account will be updated as necessary regarding future library operations.

Important Notice
Please refrain from visiting the library if you feel unwell.
Wash your hands and follow coughing manner.
Please wear a mask while inside the building.
Avoid the Cs: Closed spaces, Crowded spaces, Close-contact settings.
Services During the Temporary Closure Period
Borrow Materials
- You can only borrow library materials you reserved.
- Please check How to search for foreign language books when you use online catalog.
- Library materials are borrowed for two weeks.
- A postal borrowing service (fees apply; select materials only) (Japanese language only) is available.
Reservations and Requests
- Reservations are available.
- Requests for materials currently not in our possession cannot be accepted. This service will resume following the re-opening of the libraries.
- Limitations on holding periods for reserved materials are two weeks.
Return of Borrowed Materials
- The library material can be returned to the service desk, book post or postal return service (fees apply) (Japanese only).
- Please return library materials using interlibrary loan service from city library, directly to the service desk.
- Materials you borrowed before April 7th can be borrowed till May 26th.
Reference
- We are accepting applications for reference via the official website (Reference service by e-mail), telephone, FAX, or post.
- As a rule, applications made via the website will be replied to within one week, while applications made via telephone, FAX, or post will be replied to within two weeks.
- Library materials mentioned in the answer can be borrowed at the special service desk. (Except restricted books)
- For those who require materials urgently, a postal borrowing service (fees apply; select materials only) (Japanese language only) or copy of original posted by mail (fees apply)(Japanese only) (Japanese language only) is available.

Regarding Event Cancellations
In order to prevent the spread of infection by New Coronavirus, all events to be held at Kumagaya Library and Kuki Library that were cancelled from Saturday, February 29, 2020, will (presently) continue to be cancelled from Tuesday, April 7 onwards.
